The division split matters because the same person may need more than one records route. A divorce decree belongs with Superior Court Records even if the marriage license came from Probate Court. A felony case file belongs with Superior Court Records even if the arrest first appeared in the sheriff's jail docket. A Magistrate warrant application belongs with Magistrate Court, but a later felony prosecution may move into Superior Court under the District Attorney.

Clayton County Clerk Online Access
The main public search route is the Court Case Inquiry. It covers civil and criminal searches for State Court, Magistrate Court, and Superior Court, subject to exclusions. Civil and criminal name searches require a court selection and last name. Case-number searches require year, type, sequence, and optional division. Docket entries for Magistrate civil e-filing can be viewed online within 72 hours according to the Magistrate Clerk page.
The clerk page also states that eCertification lets users electronically request certified and regular court and real estate records 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. eCertification is the better channel when a document must carry official certification. A public search printout is useful for finding a case, but it is not the same as a certified copy from the clerk.
Some records must bypass the public portal. The county's search screen excludes adoption, juvenile, probate, protective-order, sealed, restricted, pre-JIS, and non-Clayton matters. Probate estates use Probate Court's online estate records. Juvenile records are restricted under juvenile-record rules. Protective orders and sealed files may require party status, attorney authority, or a court order before any clerk can release them.

Clayton County Clerk Fees
The research file includes several official fee notes that affect clerk-related work, but not a complete copy-fee chart for the Superior and Magistrate clerk. Probate certified marriage copies cost $10. Citizen warrant applications in Magistrate Court cost $20 per person unless the domestic violence or sex-crime waiver applies, and withdrawal before a pre-warrant hearing costs $100. Clayton County Clerk Filing Channels
The Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Court page states that PeachCourt electronic filing was suspended until a more efficient system interface could be achieved. Effective February 1, 2024, the Superior and Magistrate clerk offices use Odyssey for civil and criminal e-filing. The Magistrate Clerk page states e-filing is available 24/7 for civil cases, and the Magistrate Clerk will continue to accept criminal or civil filings by U.S. Mail.
Odyssey filing and public record access should not be treated as the same task. Filing is the act of submitting a pleading or document to the court. Searching is the act of looking up public docket information after the record is entered. Certification is a separate clerk function that confirms a copy is official. A user who only needs to confirm a case number may start with Court Case Inquiry. A user who needs a seal for court, school, employment, licensing, immigration, or another formal purpose should use the clerk's certification process.
The Clayton County Open Records Request portal is the fallback for non-court administrative records and records not published online. Court-file copies normally still route through the clerk that holds the case file.
The State Court Clerk page is a separate route for misdemeanor, traffic, and State Court civil records.
